•    CaixaBank Corporate Finance & Capital Markets is the investment banking department of CaixaBank with a strong integrated capacity in Spain and Portugal, levered on the full integration of BPI, which has traditionally been one of the most experienced investment banking services providers in the country. CaixaBank BPI investment banking unit presently counts with an experienced team across four offices in Madrid, Barcelona, Lisboa and Porto providing a complete range of specialized services to its clients in the areas of Corporate Finance, M&A, Equity Capital Markets, Equity Research and Sales & Trading. Over the past years, CaixaBank BPI participated in all the most important IPOs in the Iberian market. 

Which projects do we work on?

•    We are looking for a Director or Assistant Director for our Portugal M&A team (preferably to be headed in Porto). The right candidate will be responsible for team management, client coverage, securing mandates and executing transactions
 

Minimum requirements

•    At least 5/7 years of experience from a leading investment bank, M&A boutique, Private Equity or M&A department from Big 4 accounting firm, and at least 3 years of experience leading M&A teams and projects
•    Strong academic background and results, graduated from Business Administration or Engineering universities, preferably with a Master’s Degree in Management, Finance or Economics
•    Strong verbal and written communication skills in English, Portuguese and also Spanish (preferentially)
•    Team Player and strong leading and interpersonal skills
•    Ability to supervise and coach junior team members
•    Excellent quantitative, analytical, and organizational skills
•    Experience in financial modelling and valuation
•    Ability to work independently and multi-task 
•    Capacity to work under pressure and in a context of shifting priorities
•    Knowledge of and demonstrated interest in corporate finance, business strategy and financial markets
 

Key competencies

•    Lead M&A execution and origination teams and coordinate M&A processes in all its phases (since the kickoff meetings up to closing), reporting to the Head of the M&A Portugal Team and interacting with the Clients
•    Participate in negotiation processes, namely reviewing Transaction Documents (from a finance perspective)
•    Support in financing raising
•    Perform market and industry analysis, identifying main trends and describe competitive environments
•    Identify M&A business opportunities
•    Make different companies and businesses’ economic and financial analysis, concluding for the main risks, constrains and drivers of future revenues and profitability growth
•    Assist the M&A team in making business plans and provide critical thinking concerning the KPI’s of different industries
•    Execute business valuations through different common applicable methods (discounted cash flows methodologies, comparable multiples) and provide critical thinking concerning the main parameters and results of such valuations
•    Participate in the construction and handling of complex financial models, namely LBO and Project Finance
•    Make written and oral business presentations
•    Use, as an experienced user, Excel, Powerpoint, Word and Outlook
•    Use and extract data from several financial databases (Bloomberg, Capital iQ, Sabi, Orbis, to name a few)
